How to See Dislikes on YouTube Mobile

This is the question with the most disappointing honest answer on the whole site. If you want to see dislikes on YouTube mobile, the official apps cannot help you — but there are two real workarounds, and one of them works on any phone.

Why the YouTube app cannot show dislikes

Every public dislike figure today comes from a browser extension. Extensions are a browser feature: they need somewhere to inject code into the page. The YouTube app for Android and iOS is not a browser and does not load extensions, so there is no place for a dislike counter to attach itself.

This is not a limitation any developer can engineer around. An app that claimed to add dislikes inside the official YouTube app would either be lying or asking for your Google password — treat both as a reason to walk away.

What actually works on a phone

Method Works on Effort
A web checker — paste a link Any phone, any browser None
Firefox for Android + extension Android only One-time setup
The official YouTube app Not possible

Option 1: paste the link into a checker

The quickest route needs no setup at all. Tap Share on the video, copy the link, and paste it into our dislike checker. It runs in any mobile browser and gives you the estimated count and the like/dislike ratio for that video.

This is the option that works on iPhone. It is a per-video lookup rather than something that appears automatically, but it needs nothing installed.

Option 2: a browser that supports extensions (Android)

Firefox for Android supports a subset of desktop extensions. Install it, add a dislike counter from the add-ons list, then open youtube.com in Firefox instead of the app. The count then appears in the button row exactly as it does on desktop.

On iPhone, the web checker is the only route. On Android you can also use Firefox.

What about iPhone?

Safari on iOS does support web extensions, but no dislike counter is currently published for it, and iOS Chrome and Firefox both use Apple’s engine without extension support for this case. For now, iPhone means the web checker.

Things that do not work

Frequently asked questions

Will YouTube ever bring dislikes back to the app?

There has been no indication of it. The count has been private since November 2021 and the decision has not been revisited publicly.

Does the desktop site work in a mobile browser?

Requesting the desktop site does not help on its own — the missing piece is the extension, not the layout.

Is the mobile number the same as the desktop one?

Yes. Whether you use a checker on your phone or an extension on a laptop, the estimate comes from the same data.

Can I see the ratio on mobile too?

Yes — the checker shows the like/dislike percentage alongside the count.

In short: to see dislikes on YouTube mobile, paste the video link into a web checker on any phone, or switch to Firefox for Android if you want the number to appear automatically. The official app will not do it, and no app can.
