# YouTube Dislike Counter > A free YouTube dislike counter for Chrome, Edge and Firefox. The hidden dislike count reappears next to the like button on every video and Short. YouTube Dislike Counter is a free browser extension that shows the dislike count on YouTube videos again, after YouTube made the public count private in November 2021. The number appears next to the like/dislike bar in YouTube's own style, or in an optional floating box, and it also works on Shorts. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Google LLC or YouTube. ## Key facts - Price: free, no account, no subscription, no ads inside the extension. - Shows the dislike count on watch pages and on YouTube Shorts. - Two display modes: inside YouTube's own dislike button (default) or a floating box (more resistant to YouTube layout changes). - Counts are estimates: they come from an archive of the public counts collected before November 2021 plus votes from extension users, not from YouTube's private data. Small and new channels are the least accurate. - Interface and store listing available in 54 languages. - Privacy: no browsing history is collected. The extension requests the count for the video you are watching by its video ID, and sends anonymous diagnostics when the count fails to appear. - Running two dislike extensions at once (for example Return YouTube Dislike) can show the number twice; keep one. ## Features - The dislike count, where it belongs: The number appears inside YouTube's own like/dislike bar, using the same formatting as the like count next to it. - Works on Shorts: Shorts have their own layout and their own button row. The extension handles both, so the count follows you between the watch page and the Shorts feed. - Floating counter option: Prefer a box you cannot miss? Switch to floating mode in the settings and the count sits over the player instead, immune to YouTube's button redesigns. - Loads with the page: The count is fetched as the video opens and updates as you navigate, so you are not left waiting or clicking a button to reveal it. - Repairs itself when YouTube changes: YouTube reshuffles its markup often. The extension looks for the button row in several ways and refreshes its selectors, instead of breaking until the next release. - No browsing history collected: It runs only on youtube.com. It asks for the count of the video you are watching by its ID and never builds a profile of the sites you visit. - Available in 54 languages: The listing and this website cover every language the Chrome Web Store supports, from Turkish and Vietnamese to Tamil and Swahili. - Free, with no account: No sign-up, no subscription, no ads inside the extension. Install it and it works. ## Links - Website: https://youtubedislike.app/ - Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/youtube-dislike-counter-r/ggmlbjnojmdpejjekdlfkplepdigcond - Microsoft Edge Add-ons: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/youtube-dislike-counter-/ckamnfjdhjcppiebngbojjifogpfpfkj - Firefox Add-ons: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-dislike-counter-return/ - User guide: https://youtubedislike.app/user-guide/ - Privacy policy: https://youtubedislike.app/privacy/ - Contact: https://youtubedislike.app/contact/ ## FAQ ### How do I see dislikes on a YouTube video? Install a dislike counter extension in a desktop browser. With YouTube Dislike Counter the estimated dislike count then appears on its own, next to the like button, on every video and every Short — no account and nothing to click. If YouTube was already open when you installed it, refresh the tab once. ### Why did YouTube remove the dislike count? YouTube made the count private on 13 November 2021, saying it protects smaller creators from organised dislike campaigns, and removed it from the API a month later. The button stayed; only the public number was hidden. The uploader still sees the real figure in YouTube Studio. ### Are the dislike counts accurate? They are close estimates, not YouTube's private figures. The numbers combine an archive of counts collected while they were still public with votes from people using dislike extensions today. Popular videos from before the change are the most accurate; brand new uploads and small channels are the least. ### Does it work on YouTube Shorts? Yes. Shorts have a different layout and their own button column, and the extension handles both, so the count follows you into the Shorts feed. Estimates on Shorts are rougher, because far fewer archived votes exist for them. ### Can I see dislikes on the YouTube mobile app? No — the YouTube app for Android and iOS cannot run extensions, so no extension can put the count there. On a phone you can open youtube.com in a browser that supports extensions, such as Firefox for Android or Kiwi Browser, and install it there instead. ### Can I see who disliked a video? No, and neither can anyone else. YouTube has never made the identity of voters available — not to viewers, not to extensions, not even to the uploader. Any site or app promising a list of who disliked a video is lying to you. ### Can creators still see their own dislikes? Yes. Open YouTube Studio and look at Analytics: the exact dislike count for your own videos is still reported there. That number is the real one; what extensions show for other people's videos is an estimate. ### Is it free, and is it safe? It is completely free — no account, no subscription, no ads inside the extension. It runs only on youtube.com, requests the count by video ID, and never collects your browsing history. This website carries advertising, and that is what pays for the servers. ### Which browsers are supported? There are three builds: Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox. Brave, Opera and Vivaldi are Chromium browsers, so they install the Chrome version from the Chrome Web Store and it behaves exactly the same. A Naver Whale build is in preparation. ### The dislike count is not showing. How do I fix it? Refresh the YouTube tab first: tabs that were open during the install or an update keep running the old script until they are reloaded. If it still does not appear, check whether a second dislike extension is competing for the same button, then switch to the floating display mode in the settings. The user guide covers every case. ### Can I run two dislike extensions at once? You can, but it usually backfires. Two extensions writing into the same button row can print the number twice or overwrite each other, so the count flickers or disappears. Keep the one you prefer and disable the other. ### Is this an official YouTube product? No. It is an independent extension with no connection to YouTube or Google. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC, used here only to describe what the extension does.
